In previous years, I’ve made my family a Valentine’s meal. This one is from 2010:

But I must be out of practice in the kitchen. I seriously underestimated the time involved and overestimated my skills with a pasta roller. I won’t make it on Iron Chef or Chopped, but the ravioli tasted pretty good in the end.
However, winter in the Laurel Highlands provided a Valentine’s Day gift that made up for my shortcomings. Here is the sight that greeted us on Thursday morning:
The first image (the one looking downstream on Jacob’s Creek) is my favorite. It seems to be nearly black and white – such and intense and wonderful contrast in lights and darks.
