It isn’t my intent to start yet another series of blog posts. I began the ‘This week in the forest‘ posts as a way of being intentional about getting to know Laurelville. And then the forest decided to come into our house.
Or rather, a burying beetle abandoned the forest for our bathroom. Oldest Daughter spotted it, Ordinary Spouse captured it, and I documented its presence and returned it to the wild. (Then we figured out what it actually was.)
(The beetle is approximately 2 cm long.)
According to Wikipedia…
Burying beetles are true to their name – they bury the carcasses of small vertebrates such as birds and rodents as a food source for their larvae.
So – what exactly did it want to bury in our bathroom?!?!
