Middle Daughter is learning various addition facts in first grade. Part of her homework is to do a time test. She works as fast as she can to do the addition problems on the page, and after she’s done one of  her parents is supposed to circle how far after one minute.

This morning, I noticed a time test on the kitchen counter. All of the problems were complete, but none were circled. So I asked Ordinary Spouse about it.

“I couldn’t circle anything,” she said. “MD didn’t do the problems in order.”

I love that she thinks outside the box and breaks the unwritten rules about doing things in a proper order. I could learn something from her.
